HOTEL D'ANGLETERRE

Hotel d'AngleterreQuai du Mont-Blanc 17Geneva 1201Switzerland

Local #: +41 (0) 22 906 5555http://www.dangleterrehotel.com/

The Hotel d’Angleterre is the work of the celebrated architect Anthony Krafft, and is acknowledged as one of the heritage sites of the city of Geneva. Dating from 1872, it was conceived as a deluxe hotel offering 30 spacious rooms, most of which had a spectacular view of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. In 1910 the Hotel was extended by the addition of another wing, with the main entrance moved to the rue de Monthoux. In 1995 the Hotel d’Angleterre closed its doors for twelve months for the most ambitious renovation of its long history, in which only the listed facade, the internal staircase and the floors were preserved. This ambitious project gave birth to a new interior that combined a more contemporary charm, elegance, and convenience with all the hotel’s traditional refinement, mystery and magic. Hotel d’Angleterre joined the privately owned and family run Red Carnation Hotel Collection in October 2001. Once more an extensive process of renovation was undergone, with new furnishings and the latest in-room technology including wireless broadband internet access. Today the 45 bedroom Hotel d'Angleterre welcomes guests from around the world, and is recognised as one of Europe’s finest five star hotels. With impeccable staff and service levels, our hotel proudly lives by its motto where "No request is too large, no detail too small"

The hustle and bustle of Las Vegas is one of the characteristics that make it so exciting; neon lights flash, slot machines clang and people are moving non-stop. Then there comes a point when that gets overwhelming. Enter a respite from all of the cacophony of Las Vegas: The Mansion at MGM Grand. The Mansion is generally reserved for the whales who sail into the MGM and lay it all on the tables, but those who want to stay big instead of play big can have access to the luxurious getaway starting at $5,000 at night. Modeled after an 18th century Tuscan villa, the 290,000-square-foot structure houses 29 villas all richly appointed in a mix of casual and elegant furnishings. The traditional Tuscan styling of arches, high-vaulted ceilings and carved decorative wood doors is complemented by the Mansion's eclectic 800 piece art collection. The mix of new and old artwork, tapestries, artifacts, and photographs hail from around the globe and weave their way throughout the public and private spaces. When not relaxing in the splendor of their own room, guests are invited to take advantage of the seven major public areas located throughout the mansion. Far from the noise of the casino, guests can sit fireside (though perhaps not in the summer) in the Grand Salon, sip cognac and play a game of billiards in the Great Hall, watch their favorite DVD in the state-of-the-art Screening Room or unwind in the Spa steam room. A walk into the courtyard reveals a lush Italian-style garden and a pool with limestone fountains and tiles and antique stone urns. While still within walking distance to the Emerald City casino in the MGM Grand, The Mansion seems worlds apart. Of course, not so far apart that you can't easily indulge in the decadence that defines Las Vegas.
